Frank R. Noyes, M.D. is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and an internationally known expert on the diagnosis and treatment of knee problems. He is a prolific researcher, publishing over 250 studies and articles in the world’s top orthopaedic journals. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. His accomplishments earned him inclusion in The Best Doctors in America reference guide. Academic appointments include being a Clinical Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He is CEO of Cincinnati Sportsmedicine and Orthopaedic Center and the Cincinnati SportsMedicine Research and Education Foundation. Dr. Noyes is regularly consulted by the national and local media for his expertise on the understanding and prevention of serious knee injuries in female athletes. He is also the former medical director for the University of Cincinnati athletic teams, former chairman of the United States Soccer Federation’s Sports Medicine Advisory Committee and former team physician for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Director Clinical & Applied Research
Sue Barber-Westin, B.S. has been a member of the Foundation research staff since its establishment in 1985 and serves as Director of Clinical and Applied Studies. She has co-authored 110 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and textbooks, focusing on the clinical outcome of various knee operative procedures, the methodologies used to ascertain results of clinical investigations, and neuromuscular indices in young athletes. Sue is the associate editor, along with editor Dr. Frank Noyes of the orthopaedic textbook, Noyes’ Knee Disorders: Surgery, Rehabilitation, Clinical Outcomes published by Saunders in 2009. In 2004, Sue and Dr. Noyes were members of the research team which won the Clinical Research Award from the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation, the highest clinical research honor bestowed annually in orthopaedics. Sue has co-authored 40 abstracts for national and international meeting lectures. She has presented 82 lectures during various local and national courses and annual meetings of the AAOS, AOSSM, and ESSKA.
